CINCINNATI (Nov. 1, 2022) — United Way of Greater Cincinnati received the Community Partnership Award on Oct. 21, 2022, during Guiding Light Mentoring’s Igniting Future Leaders Gala. 

The past two years, UWGC has partnered with Guiding Light Mentoring for its annual Back-to-School Northside Community Event.

In announcing the award, Guiding Light Mentoring said:

“United Way has been a big contributor by not only donating backpacks filled with school supplies, but also supporting the organization financially, with dedicated volunteers, and introductions to new community partners.”  

At the August 2022 back-to-school event hosted by Guiding Light Mentoring and Chase Elementary School, United Way distributed to families more than 550 backpacks filled with school supplies. In all, United Way collected more than 1,800 backpacks, which were distributed at three community events. 

Guiding Light Mentoring, established in 2014, serves youth ages 8 to 18 by providing positive role models, teaching relationship skills and helping develop moral character.
