CINCINNATI (April 21, 2023) – United Way’s 211 Helpline is a gateway to essential community services. Now, improvements have made it easier for residents to connect to 211’s extensive database of resources, whether you’re calling by phone or searching online.
For people who prefer to search for resources on their own, the newly redesigned 211 webpage now has a direct URL: 211uwgc.org. Search categories have been overhauled, making it easier for community members and local agencies to find resources. It’s also easier for resource providers to update their listings.
In addition, people who call the 211 Helpline will experience improved customer service thanks to a new phone system. Among the features:
- Callers select from options related to their need (utilities, rent/housing, food, etc.), to ensure they speak to a care coordinator skilled in that area.
- Callers can leave their phone number and hold their place in the queue, and then receive an automatic callback when a care coordinator is available.
- Voicemail messages are placed in a queue that ensures calls are returned in the order received.
- Information is collected from callers (such as ZIP codes and demographic data) to improve the search for resources and inform community need.
