About Us:
Karen Snyder is Director of the Southeast Indiana office. She works with 12 local volunteers who make up the Southeast Indiana Action Council, which helps guide United Way’s work in the area.
Action Council members are Jill Timon, Chair; Liz Sedler, Vice Chair; Mike Perleberg, Secretary; E.G. McLaughlin, Jim Scott, Lynn Deddens, Virginia Sinkhorn, Amanda Purcell, Guinevere Banschbach, Peter Lewis, Alan Weiss and Ron Nicholson.
What we do:
We work to bring economic well-being to all families in our region. We do this by uniting communities and creating lasting change. We are uniquely positioned to lead and partner with others in building long-term solutions and aligning systems to help our community’s families thrive.
Current focus of work in Southeast Indiana:
- Free Tax Prep for seniors and qualifying families and individuals.
- Project Uplift, which helps families stay financially stable by working with partner agencies within the community.
- Early education efforts, including working with groups to provide support to local day care providers, literacy kits for early readers, etc.
- Support for local systems-change partner agencies.
