Tocqueville members are a generous group of successful, philanthropic leaders who support United Way and our community at an outstanding level. They are some of our region’s most influential business and civic leaders who are making a difference in the lives of people who need it most.
Inspired by Alexis de Tocqueville, a French political philosopher who famously admired American philanthropy, United Way’s Tocqueville supporters embody the same generous American spirit that Tocqueville fell in love with nearly 200 years ago.
2021 marked the 35th anniversary of the Tocqueville Society's years of generosity and support. On behalf of the thousands of lives changed in our community, we thank you.
In April of 2022 with the lifting of COVID-19 madates we publically celebrated the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Greater Cincinnati Tocqueville Society, and announced the winners of the annual Tocqueville Society Award. The award recognizes individuals or couples who have exhibited exceptional dedication and leadership in our community.
This year we honored: Cynthia O. Booth, Kelly M. Dehan, Julia W. Poston and Steven J. Shifman. Learn more about each of these amazing individuals in the video below.
Tocqueville members enjoy meeting other philanthropic leaders at signature events such as cocktail receptions, luncheons and educational forums. Each exclusive event is designed to give members an engaging, up-close look at how your investment is changing lives. When Tocqueville members meet, they create a powerful force of good.
Tocqueville members in Greater Cincinnati make up one of the largest Tocqueville chapters in the country, collectively giving more than $13 million each year.
