Support Programs Like Project Lift

An investment in United Way is an investment in your neighbors and your community. Through programs like Project Lift, Free Tax Prep, Success By 6® and our 211 Helpline, we strive to help families and individuals in our region have a better chance at economic well-being.

For many hardworking families, complex barriers prevent them from building a solid financial foundation. They know exactly what will make their lives better, they just need someone they trust to guide them.

Project Lift supports families on their journey to financial stability. Project Lift sponsors listen to each families’ challenges, find ways to leverage resources to assist them with short-term needs – rent, food, child care, utilities, transportation, etc. – and provide an ongoing support system as they work to increase their incomes and build long-term economic well-being.

PERSONAL STORIES

  • “When I’ve needed help I’ve reached out to Whitewater Crossing (Project Lift sponsor) who linked me up with the Lift program. They’ve given me some rent assistance through hard times. I’m super grateful for getting help when I needed it. It gave me a little push to get to where I needed to go.”Andreah McAdams
  • “Project Lift helped me get a (phlebotomy) certificate, and I also passed the state board test. I have a sense of security now. A sense of security was something I always worried about. I needed to make sure I was financially stable for my children. That’s my main focus.”Daja Moore
  • “It has been a very long journey, trying to get back on my feet, going through different trials and tribulations, trying to maintain stability and self-sufficiency. Without Project Lift, (my family) would not have been able to get through these trying times. Now, my future is bright. We are thankful for the help in my time of need.”Aswana Laskey
