A Firm Commitment to Privacy

UNITED WAY BOARDBANK PRIVACY POLICY

United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) has created this privacy policy to demonstrate its firm commitment to privacy.

This privacy policy governs the manner in which UWGC collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users (individually “User” collectively “Users”) of www.Boardbankcincy.org (the “Site”). By using our Site, User consents to the collection, use, maintenance, and disclosure of this information by UWGC.

UWGC reserves the right to revise this policy at any time. When it does, posting of the revised Privacy Policy by noting the "last updated" date at the bottom of this Privacy Policy constitutes notice to User of its revision. User is responsible for regularly reviewing the current Privacy Policy. Continued use of the Site following the posting of changes to this policy will be deemed the User's acceptance of those changes. By using this Site, User signifies acceptance of this policy. If a User does not agree to this policy, they may not use the Site.

Links

The Site may contain links to other sites. UWGC is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such other sites and encourages Users to review the privacy policies of the web sites before providing them with any personally identifiable data.

The following discloses the information gathering and dissemination practices for this Site.

Information UWGC Collects

UWGC collects  “personally identifiable information” and “usage information.”

PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION

UWGC may collect personally identifiable information (information that may include User's name, mailing address, e-mail address, phone number, and payment information) from Users on the Site only if they voluntarily submit such information. Users can refuse to supply personally identifiable information, but it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities and limit their ability to use the Site.  Personally identifiable information does not include information regarding corporate entities or information that is encoded, aggregated, anonymized, or publicly available information that has not been combined with non-public personally identifiable information.

Users may voluntarily submit personally identifiable information to UWGC in a variety of ways on the Site, such as by registering on the Site and subsequently completing a candidate profile, responding to a survey, or otherwise filling out online forms. If Users choose to submit this information, UWGC will collect it.

HOW UWGC USES PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION

UWGC is the sole owner of the information collected and does not sell or rent this information to anyone. UWGC uses standard internet industry-wide efforts to avoid disclosure of information which is confidential, privileged or nonpublic other than in accordance with this privacy policy.

Because UWGC may use third party service providers to help operate the BoardBank program and the Site and to administer activities on its behalf, it may share personally identifiable and usage information with (see description below) these third parties for such purposes. For example, UWGC may share information with third party service providers who provide billing and payment processing services. UWGC will not share User information with any third party outside of the BoardBank program other than BoardBank affiliates, contractors, advisors, service providers, or, at UWGC’s reasonable discretion, to investigate or prevent fraud, illegal activity or misuse of our Site.

Information collected via the Site will only be used for BoardBank purposes. Information gathered in accordance with a stated desire to serve on nonprofit boards or to fill vacancies on a board is used solely by UWGC or other BoardBank affiliated parties to facilitate board placement.

Users will receive automatically generated communications as a result of User activity on the Site. These communications include, and are not limited to, information regarding interest in your board vacancy (for nonprofits), or opportunities related to your profile (for candidates). Recipients retain the option to opt-out of these communications at any point in time.

In the event UWGC assets or any business unit is sold or transferred to another entity, personally identifiable information may be one of the transferred assets.

USAGE INFORMATION

"Usage information” is information automatically collected by a web server (which may be hosted by a third party) that a User’s browser makes available when visiting the Site, such as a computer’s IP (Internet Protocol) address or browser type.  When a web browser or email application requests a web page or email from another computer on the Internet, it automatically gives that computer the address where it should send the information. This “address” does not contain any personally identifiable information. UWGC also receives the name of the User's internet service provider (ISP).

UWGC may also use other technologies (such as cookies, explained below) to enhance User experience and obtain information about a User’s online activities, such as pages and content viewed, the time and duration of visits and whether a User clicked on a link.

UWGC uses “session” cookies on the Site, which are used to identify a particular visit to the Site and may also be used to store any passwords used on the Site (such as a password associated with a user account), so you do not have to enter it more than once per session. Session cookies expire after a short time or when a User closes a web browser. Due to the communications standards on the Internet, when Users visit the Site, it automatically receives the URL of the web site from which the User came and the web site to which the User visits when leaving the Site. Users may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to receive an alert when cookies are being sent. Doing so may result in some parts of the Site not functioning properly.

HOW UWGC USES USAGE INFORMATION

UWGC may from time to time use third party tools that help it understand how visitors engage with the Site. UWGC may share the data collected by such services with third parties in order to obtain web analytics and benchmarking services.

UWGC is currently using Google Analytics. This information is included in this privacy policy in accordance with the requirement that all website owners using this service disclose this information. Users can review the full Google Analytics Privacy Policy here.

UWGC may use this information to administer its Site and analyze overall trends. The information which the Site automatically gathers, such as the numbers and frequency of visitors, helps determine how much visitors use parts of the Site, so that UWGC can make continuous improvements. UWGC also may provide aggregated statistical “ratings” information, never information about Users personally, to its partners about how visitors, collectively, use the Site.

REPORTING OF INFORMATION FOR INVESTIGATION OF POSSIBLE ILLEGAL OR HARMFUL ACTIVITIES

UWGC may use and disclose personally identifiable information and usage information when it has reason to believe that using and/or disclosing this information is necessary to investigate, identify, contact, or take action against someone who may have engaged in illegal activities or someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) UWGC's rights or property, the rights of other Users of the Site, or anyone else who could be harmed by such activities. UWGC may also disclose personally identifiable information when it reasonably believes that the law requires it.

USER ACCESS TO AND CONTROL OVER INFORMATION

Users can review, update, correct, or delete their information or select to opt out of receiving any future UWGC communications, registration or pledge information by contacting UWGC at Boardbankcincy@uwgc.org.

PRIVACY OF CHILDREN

The Site is a general audience website. UWGC does not intentionally collect personally identifiable information from users of this Site who are under the age of thirteen. If UWGC becomes aware that a user of the Site is under the age of 13 and has placed an order using the Site, it will remove that child’s personal information from its files, in accordance with the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998.

SECURITY

UWGC has put in place commercially reasonable physical, electronic and managerial procedures designed to safeguard and secure the information it collects online for reasonable foreseeable risk. However, due to the open communication nature of the Internet, UWGC cannot guarantee communication between Users and UWGC will be free from unauthorized access by third parties and does not ensure, warrant or guarantee the security or integrity of such information.  UWGC will not be responsible for disclosure of any information due to errors in transmission or the unauthorized acts of third parties. A User's continued use of this Site signifies agreement that UWGC will not be liable for any such access.

UWGC does not warrant Site content is complete or accurate or use of the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free or any content is free of disabling devices (software, content, message, or any material containing a computer virus, worm, Trojan horse, or any other device which may erase, scramble, lock, or in any other way disable computer software or equipment or prevent Users from using a website or any other item of hardware or software.)

USER'S ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS

By using this Site, a User signifies acceptance of this policy. Users who do not agree to this policy should not use the Site. A User's continued use of the Site following the posting of changes to this policy will be deemed acceptance of those changes. Questions about this privacy statement, the practices of the Site, or dealings with the Site can be sent to UWGC at Boardbankcincy@uwgc.org.
