Moira Weir, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC), is one of 41 finalists for the Business Courier’s 2020 C-Suite Awards, a program that honors top executives for outstanding leadership and measurable success at Greater Cincinnati businesses and nonprofits.
A panel of outside judges selected the finalists in five categories. Moira, the first female leader of UWGC, is a finalist in the Chief Executive Officer category.
Moira began her work at UWGC in mid-March 2020 — a week earlier than planned — to ensure that the organization was at the forefront of efforts to provide relief in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. She quickly assembled a new leadership team, and she has overseen a number of initiatives designed to help the region respond and recover. Among them: a partnership with the Greater Cincinnati Foundation to establish the COVID-19 Regional Response Fund, which raised $7.2 million for nonprofit organizations that serve people who are vulnerable.
This is the sixth year for the C-Suite Awards. Winners will be announced Dec. 4 in a special section of the Business Courier’s print edition. No ceremony will be held because of the pandemic.
