We are proud to announce the appointment of Bryan McCleary to the position of Chief Marketing and Engagement Officer.

McCleary comes to United Way following a career in government, business and non-profits.   He most recently served as Vice President, Communications and Creative for News America Marketing, a division of News Corp in New York City.   Prior to that, he served as a consultant to nonprofits developing cause-related marketing campaigns for groups like UNICEF and the American Cancer Society.   He also spent a month as a visiting fellow at the Carter Center in Atlanta.

At P&G, McCleary spent twenty years in communications, including an overseas assignment in Switzerland and work on many of P&G’s largest brands. As part of his responsibilities, he led brand PR, publicity, sponsorships, entertainment marketing and executive and crisis communications for multiple businesses across the company.  He developed a special expertise in cause marketing, working on many of P&G’s most celebrated campaigns, including Pampers One Pack = One Vaccine and Crest Healthy Smiles.

Prior to joining P&G, McCleary served as Press Secretary for U.S. Senator John Glenn.

Ross Meyer, Interim CEO, said McCleary is uniquely suited to take on this role at this time.  “Bryan has a unique mix of experience, spanning government, business, and nonprofits.    We look forward to him applying his skills to help build the future United Way.”  McCleary was appointed Chief Marketing and Engagement Officer following a competitive search process evaluating more than 150 potential candidates.

McCleary said he welcomes the chance to apply his experience to United Way.  “I look forward to helping this great organization face head-on its challenges and opportunities at this unique time in United Way history,” he said.
