Congrats to Second United Way BOLD Class of 2018

The latest class of United Way BOLD: Board Orientation & Leadership Development began Thursday, July 26 with a new group of future nonprofit volunteer leaders.

The six-week leadership development program trains participants to step directly into roles on nonprofit boards and committees. Graduates are connected to hundreds of organizations and can use their skills immediately.

"I've found giving your time, talent and treasure to causes you care about not only changes the lives of others -- but changes your own life as well," said Michael Johnson, president & CEO, United Way of Greater Cincinnati. "This is a great opportunity to develop and engage people through community leadership."

Last year, 88 participants graduated from the program. This year, United Way expects to graduate even more future board leaders by expanding classes from two groups per year to three, thanks to support from Fifth-Third Bank.

"Fifth Third is pleased to continue our sponsorship of the 2018 BOLD program and work closely with Michael and the wonderful team at United Way. BOLD aligns with Fifth Third's core value of community involvement and we look forward to enhancing our great partnership," said Tim Elsbrock, senior vice president and regional president for Cincinnati at Fifth Third Bank. "I have personally benefited from participating on nonprofit boards and look forward to hearing the success stories that come out of this year's cohort of BOLD participants."
