The Cincinnati-based band WALK THE MOON has donated $20,000 to United Way Success By 6®. Their contribution will be used to help high-quality early childhood programs and services become more widely available to children throughout the Greater Cincinnati region.

“We’re so thankful for this generous contribution. This gift will help Success By 6® expand proven solutions that will help more parents get their children off to a strong start in school and in life, and it’s so special that the members of WALK THE MOON thought of Success By 6® and the children of our area in making this donation,” said Rob Reifsnyder, president of United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC).

WALK THE MOON, which is currently in the midst of a national tour to promote their latest album, ’TALKING IS HARD’,  was founded in Cincinnati by  singer/keyboardist Nicholas Petricca and worked their way up by relentlessly touring throughout Ohio. Since ‘making it big,’ with songs like "Shut Up And Dance" (video above), the band has appearanced on the late-night TV circuit on Letterman, Fallon, Conan and Kimmel, played for massive crowds at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and joined the likes of fun., Pink, Panic! At The Disco, and Fitz and the Tantrums on the road in the US, UK, and Europe.

WALK THE MOON recently performed at a charity benefit concert sponsored by StubHub for the benefit of the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, which donated musical instruments to under-funded school music programs. As a thank-you for appearing, the band was provided a $20,000 contribution to the charity of its choice.

"We're thrilled to contribute to a great movement like this in our own hometown and to help prepare kids in need for school and beyond," said Petricca.

United Way Success By 6® has driven the vision of kindergarten readiness – UWGC’s top priority – throughout the Greater Cincinnati region for the past 10+ years. Research shows that children who attend quality center-based childcare tend to show up to kindergarten better prepared, which leads to future success in life.

Over the last seven years, United Way Success By 6® has helped triple the number  of quality centers in our region and recently implemented a Center of Excellence operating model designed to accelerate progress, scale proven strategies, and more effectively champion investments.

WALK THE MOON will be appearing in Cincinnati on April 1 in a sold out show at Bogart's.
