UNITED4CINCY VIRTUAL TELETHON RAISES NEARLY $10K FOR COVID-19 RELIEF

January 8, 2021

United for Cincy, a three-hour community telethon, aired live Friday, May 1, and raised nearly $10K for COVID-19 relief in Greater Cincinnati.

“Once again the Greater Cincinnati showed up to help support individuals and families who’ve been impacted by job loss from COVID-19,” said Brian Gregg, chief communications officer at United Way of Greater Cincinnati. “We’re so grateful to the many talented individuals who entertained us, the community members who shared their stories and the teams at G&B Strategies and NuVoodoo Media Services, LLC, for their amazing technical expertise, without whom we could not have made this happen.”

The event streamed on YouTube on May 1 from 7 p.m. until after 10 p.m. Chris O-Brien and Janeen Coyle, the Married with Microphones morning team on WGRR, were emcees for the event, which will include music, cooking, comedy, informational interviews and more. It was a lively spotlight of Cincinnati’s talented arts, food and culture scenes.

Both local artists and national artists with Cincinnati ties appeared included Jerry Springer, Jewel, Train, Carly Pearce, Zachary Gabbard of The Buffalo Killers/Gabbard Bros, Naked Karate Girls, Bronson Arroyo, Jim Scott, Curtis Sittenfeld, Erika Wennerstrom, The Newbees and others. A complete list is available at United4Cincy.com

Funds raised from this event will support programs that deliver gift cards directly into the hands of food assistance applicants to fill the void between application submittal and approval as well as assist local social services agencies with urgent needs to stabilize the community.
