United Way of Greater Cincinnati Joins with P&G and Brain Brew Whiskey to Deliver Masks, Sanitizer to Frontline Social Service AgenciesP&G donated 100K masks & sanitizer to United Way of Greater Cincinnati for quick distribution to the community.
CINCINNATI (April 23, 2020) — Procter & Gamble is donating nearly 100,000 non-surgical grade masks and thousands of bottles of sanitizer to Greater Cincinnati social service agencies, teaming with Brain Brew Whiskey of Newtown and United Way of Greater Cincinnati for quick distribution.
Brain Brew Whiskey is donating packaging materials and labor to convert P&G’s 55-gallon drums of Safeguard hand sanitizer into manageable bottles and United Way is connecting with 140 partner agencies and other non-traditional partners to support COVID-19 relief efforts in neighborhoods throughout the region.
United Way will distribute the first batch of 32,000 masks, along with hundreds of bottles of hand sanitizer, this week to homeless shelters, food pantries, child care centers, senior services groups and other social service agencies vital to the area’s safety net.
One such agency, the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio, already has plans as part of a new initiative aimed at the African American community.
“At times like these, partnerships are critical,” said Eddie Koen, Urban League president and CEO “The Urban League and the United Way must double-down efforts to assist traditionally underserved Black communities. These materials will help the need for critical supplies for our new initiative, ‘Mask what Matters: Protecting our Community.’”
P&G donated hand sanitizer made by its plant in Lima, Ohio, and non-surgical masks from its existing supply to help meet the immediate need. Brain Brew Whiskey has packaged much of that, as well as its own, donating 50,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to over 200 organizations across Cincinnati, Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
“Those serving as boots on the ground in this pandemic have communicated personal protection equipment as a top need,” said Moira Weir, United Way President and CEO. “Through our partners, we are able to quickly get masks and sanitizer in the right hands. We continue to listen to the community and respond where the need is greatest. Thanks to P&G for this donation – it will make a difference – and for Brain Brew’s assistance donating packaging and labor.”
