Four Local Companies Stand Out When It Comes To Standing Up For Their CommunityEY, Michelman, U.S. Bank, Ingage Partners lauded for volunteerism
Cincinnati (Nov. 23, 2021) United Way of Greater Cincinnati is celebrating four local businesses committed to volunteerism and making their community a better place for all.
EY, Michelman, U.S. Bank and Ingage Partners recently received 2021 Corporate Heroes awards from United Way for embracing volunteer engagement and providing opportunities for team members to get involved in their community. Employees at the companies volunteered for more hours per capita than others their size in United Way’s annual Corporate Heroes competition.
“We are fortunate to live in such a giving community, anchored by businesses that encourage their employees to make their corner of the world a better place,” said Moira Weir, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Cincinnati. “Thank you, 2021 Corporate Heroes and everyone else throughout our community who give of their time, talent and treasure. Greater Cincinnati is a better place because of your sacrifice.”
This is the seventh year United Way has recognized Corporate Heroes for their volunteer engagement. All four winners repeat from last year. Ingage Partners is a three-time winner in the category of 10 to 99 employees, and EY has won its category, 250 to 749 employees, all seven years of the competition’s existence.
“EY’s purpose is to build a better working world and United Way and the programs around United Way really give us a chance to enable our people to volunteer and make a difference in their community, which is what they want to do,” said Jeremy Vaughan, managing partner of EY’s Cincinnati Office.
Companies sign up for the competition and then track employee volunteer time. Points are earned per each hour volunteered:
- Five points for each hour volunteered with United Way
- Two points for each hour volunteered with a United Way agency partner
- One point for each non-United Way affiliated volunteer hour
“Winning a Corporate Heroes award two years in a row is very special to Michelman,” said Amy Stabler, business analyst at Michelman. “It confirms that our associates have a true passion and commitment in positively impacting our community.”
Volunteer projects can be customized to match employee interests with the need in the Greater Cincinnati community. Volunteer projects can even be brought onsite. Many companies want to make it easy for employees to give back.
“U.S. Bank values volunteering because it is part of who we are,” said Kevin Malvey, a senior vice president at U.S. Bank. “In fact, each year, employees are given 16 hours of volunteer time off to give back to their communities.”
One thing in common with all four 2021 Corporate Heroes: they are intentional about volunteerism.
“Volunteering is one way we live our values and measure our success as a company,” said Shannon Lewandowski, an employee owner at Ingage Partners.
