Become a Tutor

Each one of us has the power to create lasting change in our community. When you tutor a child, you help provide the support they need to succeed in school, and in life. Research shows that a child with a sustained and supportive relationship with at least one caring adult achieves positive outcomes, like academic success and reduced risky behaviors. Our vision is that all children have the supports needed throughout their childhood and adolescence so they may graduate from high school ready for their next step. Tutors are one of those key supports.

An estimated 2,000 children in Cincinnati schools are not reading at grade level. That's why United Way of Greater Cincinnati is collaborating with the Strive Partnership and Cincinnati Public Schools to improve math and reading skills of local children. A list of targeted schools were chosen by CPS based upon poor test scores or limited access to volunteers and resources.

If you can dedicate 45 minutes, each week until May, you can help one local child get back on track to becoming a successful adult. Tutoring can even fit busy schedules and can take place before the work day, during a lunch hour, or any other time during the school day. All training and subject material is provided.
