Inspired by her own mother’s community service, WLC member Lisa Sauer lives united through championing projects that are most meaningful to her, like the preservation and future of the city of Covington, where she serves as steward.

Lisa and her husband of 18 years, Jon, spent three years with P&G in Guangzhou, China, before coming back to Cincinnati almost six years ago. Now P&G’s finance manager of Global Oral Care, Lisa says her most significant life lesson has been how to work in a global market.  “And I’m still learning,” she says.

Her passions range from historic architecture and art, to travel and restoring her 150 year-old home. “This is my next book topic,” she says. In 2005, Lisa co-authored

Art in Life: Discovery of Historic Regional Furniture in China.

Working to personally make a difference in her community, Lisa joined the WLC because she felt it affirmed her belief that United Way’s mission is important.

Her additional contributions include serving as president of the Historic Licking-Riverside Civic Association, chairperson of the Duveneck Memorial Art Show, co-founder and leader, Progress with Preservation, and board member of the Baker Arts & Cultural Center.

A personal philosophy of Lisa’s is “breaking down problems into smaller pieces allows you to accomplish more than you’d expect,” which is how she approached the five and a half year project of renovating her historic Covington home.

With the renovations now complete, Lisa’s parents moved into their carriage house where she and Jon lived while working on the house.  “We’re getting to know them on a whole new level,” she says. “They’re more like our friends now!”
